Week 4.1 de_tuscan
hadouken- vs. 9frag
Prediction: 16 – 13
Reason: I haven’t been very up to date with open, but it looks like these two teams are just ripping through the Eastern Conference thus far! 9frag are rumored to be ‘that crazy french team’, who might actually win open! I’m sure they’re feared by a lot of other teams, but I think hadouken- has some hidden talent themselves. Two of their starters come from former CALopen s10 (I believe) runner ups, Get Down, and pipo, an original from hadouken in CALmain and Team Hausen in CEVOmain, who took the championship in their last season. I definitely think 9frag are going to make the semi-finals, at the least, this season, but I also think that hadouken- will be the ones to stop them from that championship.
Dazzling- vs. Carpe Noctem
Prediction: 7 – 16
Reason: I don’t know many players from each team, but one that I do recognize is awesomesauce, from Carpe Noctem. If I’m remembering correctly, this guy is absolutely incredible at this game. If he is as good as he use to be, he won’t have any problems destroying mediocre teams in open. No offense Dazzling-, but your schedule hasn’t exactly been that tough this season. This will be your wakeup call; maybe you will prove me wrong? One can only hope.
Vinegar Strokes vs. Net Heroes
Prediction: 19 – 17
Reason: I feel that these are two evenly matched teams, although they may be different in play style. From the looks of it, Net Heroes seems like a group of French/Asian gamers that know how to shoot guns. Vinegar Strokes, while maybe not having the same fragging ability, will definitely be on par with team skill due to their in-game leader, toddsquaD. Todd is known for his strat calling abilities, so I hope they have been preparing and don’t underestimate Net Heroes.
PTW: nzealander, nst
Area 51 Gaming vs. Torbulls Secret Admirers
Prediction: 16 – 7
Reason: Area 51 Gaming’s early loss in the season was nothing more than a mistake. This team has what it takes to win the championship (I would know, winning open last season hehe) and I believe that they’ve been keeping up with a decent practice schedule. Torbulls Secret Admirers has some decent individual players on their roster, but I don’t think they’ll be a match for the veterans.
MRSR vs. Circa Anile Ubique
Prediction: 4 – 16
Reason: MRSR got unlucky with the scheduling here. Circa Anile Ubique, a 6-0 team, are facing off a 4-2 team. CAU are built of players that have been around the source community for a long time, and I see them completely dominating this match.
CIAO vs. Lettuce Frag
Prediction: 15 – 15
Reason: This match can go both ways depending on who plays for Lettuce Frag. Their recent addition, former ESEA-Invite semi-finalist PLR, can make or break this match. Some questions I’m sure we’re all asking: Will he play? Is he still amazing? Does he plan on staying with this team for the rest of the season? CIAO will have this team beat on terms of teamwork and practice, but, with the aid of PLR, there’s no telling the potential of Lettuce Frag. I’m leaving this one tied for my prediction only because I like the mystery behind this match.
PTW: PLR, WAXXT
Dank Energy vs. PIRATEHOOKERS
Prediction: 11 – 16
Reason: PIRATEHOOKERS have been around for a long time, and I don’t see them having a problem taking home this match. They have some very talented individuals that have proven themselves online and on-lan, multiple times. The reason I’m giving so many rounds to Dank Energy is because it looks like they have a consistent starting 5 so I’m hoping that with some practice they will be able to put up a decent fight. In the match, I think its going to come down to a lot of 1v1′s and 1v2′s being won by PIRATEHOOKERS.
OfficerAwstinKuwig-Kowt vs. The Amnesty Box
Prediction: 16 – 6
Reason: This is another mismatch match-up. You have to love the name OfficerAwstinKuwig-Kowt! Surprisingly, this team has some very good players – despite its misleading name. They have a shot at the championship this season, the only thing holding them back will be practice.
